Remington R25 Feed Problems?

I am really drooling for an R25 in .308 and was just curious if there was any feed problems with lower end rounds? I have never owned an AR type rifle, so this would be all new for me. Thanks for the info.

My R-25 had extraction issues when I first got it. It did fine for the first 10 or so rounds then It would stove pipe every round there after. I took it all apart, including the bolt, cleaned and lubed everything and put it back together. I did a rapid fire test of 20 rounds and it functioned flawlessly from then on...

Well

You guys aren't making it any easier to stop myself from running right out and buying one! Have to do some sweet talking to the wife first, that way I am not snuggling with that R25 on the front porch for the next month!

Get the gun, pick her up a box of candy on the way home, but make sure you give her the candy first and say while I was getting your candy look what they had on sale and it just my size and color....

I got one and love it. Hogs don't. Cheaper n Dirt has a nifty 20 round Magpul magazine that functions better than the 4 round mag that comes with the rifle.

Can't even get the first round loaded... Tried several different loads and mags. The R-25 isn't keeping up with its name very well in this house.

Ok, resurrected a year old thread to state you are having a problem with your R-25.

You say you cannot get "the first round loaded". Give some more specifics and let's see if we can help. What caliber is your R-25? When you say you cannot get it loaded, what do you mean? The round won't chamber, as in the bolt won't close? Hard to tell what the problem is to find a solution with so few details.

Did you purchase the gun new or used?

Wow

I never did purchase the R25 and totally forgot I had started this thread. Was surprised to see an email saying my nearly 2 year old thread had come back up. Also got a PM from the guy telling me to not buy one, saying they are a POS. Still interested in one and would not let this deter me from purchasing one, especially since the poster has decided not to clarify his statements.

Well, Boz joined April 11th, posted 3 times on that day, and hasn't been back.

I'm going to assume the best and figure he's busy making a hard day's living or something and didn't just come here to rant and leave.

Apologies, Globe...while I have been working hard, it just hasn't been on the R25. Since posting, I've had the feed ramps filed down, which help a little. The gunsmith I was working then suggested 'a slight boring of the chamber' which didn't suit me fine at all. The problem has gotten better with the PMags, but still stovepiping every 10-12 rounds.

Truth be told, I think I need to just take it out to the range and, patiently, put about 200 rounds through it one at a time. Been too focused on a recent interstate move and keeping the other .300s in the safe clean and tight.

Didn't mean to bust in and rant but, dang, I was ****** at that rifle that day.
