A new addition to the family/early Xmas present

So, I've been looking for an older Mossberg 500 to convert for HD. Today I found this, a Mossberg 500 (year unknown, but serial number starts with a P, any ideas) with 28" vent rib accuchoke barrel. Gun was dirty as hell, probably never cleaned. The barrel has light rust spots, minor cosmetic issues. Bore is PERFECT. Gun feeds great, haven't shot yet. The thing that pleases me most is I came away with it for 160, out the door, with a softshell case thrown in. Sorry for the bad picture, I was in a hurry to open 'er up.

Any ideas on what the accuchoke 28" barrel is worth in the condition described, and what I could sell the forend and stock? Also, what kind of Adapter should Use to make a modern forend fit this action tube?

CC- Get familiar with Brownell's and other such similar type places. There are a ton of accessories for the Moss's. They're like 10/22's and AR's... barbies for men. You won't get much for the bbl, but you have a computer and can post your spare parts on an auction board and just see what it'll bring. OR, you can hold onto them parts and try your hand at shooting clay pidgeons outta the sky- that is a wonderful sport that the you and your Mrs./brother/uncle/pastor/neighbor/kid/etc can enjoy.

+1 on hanging on to the barrel & magazine tube. Search for your home defense barrel (20" common for Mossy 500) and mag tube to go with it (probably a 7-round tube). You'll be able to swap them out as you please, and you'll be equipped for clays, hunting, or home defense.
