If a 9mm is the same as the rest, you should check out AeroPrecision

Bought this one on sale a couple weeks back for my own 9mm build. Out of stock atm but I was happy with it.

Will end up changing to a 5 oz buffer tho.

I went with the KAK Industries tube that is dimpled for use with the shockwave blade. Very happy with it and will buy the same for next pistol build

I like the spikes tactical, has a QD mount built into the back too, which is kinda nice.

I have the same Delta Team Tactical one SDF880 mentioned on my Blackout and I have a Thordsen cheek rest kit with a standard carbine buffer tube on my 5.56.
Both work real good.

I've never really looked into them before, so: Are pistol buffer tubes the same length as carbine tubes, just without the stock-detent rib on the bottom?

Do they use the same length springs/buffers as a carbine tube?

Thanks in advance

Thanks,

I went the SBR route instead, so never gave the pistol tubes much thought... but I have this bare lower (bought to keep me legal with possessing 10" uppers while I waited for that first stamp) that I might just make a pistol lower out of.

Don't be surprised if you get a heavier buffer sooner or later.... the nature of a 9mm blowback AR is "different" then a 5.56 DI system.

Mine felt like it was pounding the heck out of the buffer, spring and extension... ( 16" PSA Colt pattern carbine )

I ended up with a 8.5oz Spikes buffer and .308 Tubbs variable Flat wire spring.... after trying numerous combos...( Including the Springco "orange" )

Much less bark and blast from the ejection port.... I am going to try a Vltor A5 6oz buffer next... as it might be just right.

Here are some AR buffer spring weights as measured by David Tubbs.

A2 (old) - 7.6lb closed, 14.5lb open
A2 (new) - 9.1lb closed, 16.7lb open
Tubb Flatwire - 10.5lb closed, 16.3lb open
Tubb .308 Flatwire - 13lb closed, 16.7lb open
SpringCo (White/standard) - 8.3lb closed, 16.3lb open
SpringCo (Red/Enhanced) - 10.5lb closed, 18.4lb open
SpringCo (Orange/Extra) - 13.9lb closed, 24.8lb open

From here if you want to see how he did it...

BTW... I would strongly suggest you buy this kind of "CONFIGURABLE BUFFER KIT".... I could have saved a fair chunk of money from all the different buffers I bought ... prior to finally deciding on what weight buffer.
