Cleaning rod help!!!

I've seen carbon fiber rods, aluminum rods, steel rods, coated rods, etc. What is the best to use. I have a new Remington 700 SPS Tactical .308. Also, is the Lucas Bore Guide worth the build-up or or other good ones out there?

I have read many articles on this controversial topic.
To no avail.
It seems there is no clear anser to this quandry.
From what my limited research can detect.

Haha I just asked this help a couple days ago. I too have a Rem700 tac in .308.

I was recomended to go a tipton or dewey rod.
(Problem with dewey threads are sometimes male or need adapters to screw
in jigs or brushes so thats why i went tipton)
Carbon fyber has crzy flexability and You want somthing coated
so it doesnt scratch the barrel or action.
Dont go with a snake(string type)unless your going for a quick
field clean not a full service clean
DO NOT USE A PORTABLE ROD! the kind un screws into 3 parts. My
cousin bought one and second time using it it snapped right in the middle.

Always use a 1 piece rod. And make sure its 6"-10" longer than your
barrel so you can go all the way down (Have to take into account
for the bore guide about 9" or so and be able to get out of the
tip of the barrel by a few inches. I went with a 40" Tipton in case i do
end up going longer barrel Ill have no worries. but a 36" should be fine.

Some rods are crazy in price. The carbons are nice but do flex a bit. Most the time I keep two set up. One I just leave a patch jag on it, and the other one for a brush if needed. I got tired of switching back and forth.

I recommend and use Tipton one-piece rods. The coating protects the bore and the threads are industry standard and can usually be used without adapters. Be sure to size the length to include the bore guide.

There are other perfectly serviceable bore guides but I happen to prefer Lucas. It's just a lot more refined design than the cheapies but others work. Review
