Glock frame crack - Page 3

Glocks can look cracked there, but getting closer, that is just the flashing left over from the injection molding process.

It is cracked. You can't pinch the frame with your fingers and see the frame actually separate. If I wanted, I could stick a piece of paper in between the crack. I sent it in to Glock on my dollar...only 9.00. I'll keep you updated.

Uuhhh....not saying you did but, if you mailed a gun I wouldn't post that on an open forum.

Actually, it is illegal to mail a handgun under most circumstances.

It's essentially always illegal for an unlicensed individual to mail a handgun.

Non-FFL cannot mail a firearm via USPS. You can ship it via common carrier-- (UPS, FedEx, etc) and you can only ship it to an FFL or manufacturer.

You can take the Glock frame to a gun store and have the store mail it US Postal, but you cannot do that yourself. If you aren't a licensed FFL, you need to take it to a service other than US Postal.

This sucks because the ffl wants like 30.00 to do the sending. So now it's really starting to add up. But I have to get this fixed.

Do not send (or ask a dealer to send) just the frame to the factory. They will not work on it because they cannot test fire the gun after repairing it. They will either return the frame with no work done, or keep it and notify you to send the rest of the gun.

For shipping purposes under the law, a frame is the same as a gun, so you save little or nothing in shipping just the frame.

If it's been determined to be a crack, plastics can be welded.
It's not difficult.
Find someone in the area who knows how; that might be the easiest way to go.
Just a thought.

That's actually cheap in comparison to what it cost for individual to ship. Mine will charge me his shipping cost (around 15 bucks for a handgun) plus 20 to put it in his books. Still cheaper than overnight Fedex or Ups that will run you around 70 dollars.
As mentioned it is illegal for non-FFL individual to ship a firearm using USPS

Update: I called gLock technical services today to inquire about my gun and they said the crack will be covered by warranty! This is awesome. Thanks for all your input guys. I give Glock the thumbs up.

When you have the gun back, make a copy of your shipping receipt and send it to Glock along with the invoice that was returned with the gun showing that it was a warranty repair. Request reimbursement for your shipping costs and there's a good chance you'll get it.

2017 update on Glock SOP
You phone them with problem(s)
They tell you OK to mail it in
USPS too slow! UPS is best, FedEx #2
Prefer Ground + insurance, note tracking number
Glock phones you with news and ETA when it goes to FedEx on their dime
Now 14 days later, it arrives but needs an adult present to sign for it
Opening it up you find
anything not stock Glock in bag, all replaced with stock parts + anything else needing a replacement
if new frame/bottom, then write down this NEW serial number that represents whole gun, regardless of slide SN
(they usually will leave non stock slide stocks on but lasers go in bag)
No charges

re: Glock 27 new from Aug 2010 having problems with ejection/feed + hard primers
