Brass for 6.5 Creedmoor
I finished my AR 10 in 6.5 Creedmoor and enjoy chasing the perfect reload as much as shooting. Are there real advantages to small rifle primers over large for this cartridge? It is for target shooting only. Also any opinions on brass brands.
All the best, Bill

Shooting Times ran an article testing large and small rifle primers in the 6.5 Creedmoor, it's at this link.
There may be a small advantage to using small rifle primers in a range gun, but you may have to be selective in your powder and primer choices. I don't think it makes much sense to use small rifles primers in a field gun, the Creedmoor developers surely don't recommend them. I prefer Starline brass, Lapua is probably better at a premium price. On an semi auto you have to contend with brass loss and damage, so the premium brass would be out for me.

Starline with LR primers. IMO, 40 grains of powder is a stretch for SR.

Brass for 6.5 Creedmoor
Thanks fellows. I was leaning towards StarLine as I was not impressed with my last purchase of Lapua in 308. Neck concentricity was .002 or greater out of the box and neck wall thickness varied up to .0011.
All the best, Bill

That's sad to hear. It always used to be about half that.
