How do you build an AK from a Parts Kit?

I'm interested in purchasing an AK, and it looks as if it might be a good option to build a rifle, although I've never done this before. Here's a few general questions:

Let's say I buy a receiver and a parts kit. Can I legally make an AK out of this combination? What specific things do I have to look at in regards to keeping it legal in regards to Sec. 922(r)?

Any and all general tips on putting together a parts guns, and AK's in particular, would be greatly appreciated.

Check out this link,

http://mark.kalashnikov.guns.ru/building.htm

You'll have to have the correct number of US made parts(usually the trigger, hammer, disconnector, gas piston etc). You'll have to make decision if you want a "muzzle device" or not. Gordon Technologies, Global Trades & KVAR are good sources for US made parts. You can get US made wood or polymer furniture(which counts as a US part) too. There is a good FAQ over at the AK-47.net site that has all of the details.

Hope this helps.

Thanks!

I may buy the kit and receiver as an investment and future project right now as I don't have the workspace/tools to complete some of the work.

Still, it does sound appealing to be able to build your own rifle up from scratch!
