I would like to use the scope for plinking...and to see if I would ever consider using a scope on a defensive rifle a la AUG.

The scope has to have low magnification and decent light gathering. I want it for the same niche that is normally covered by red dot sights.

My experience with photo lenses makes me insist on fixed magnification. It wouldn't be for hunting long range, but rather for fast target acquisition at 50-200m range. I will be evaluating this scope vs. aperture sights.
I suspect that illuminated crosshairs would be a plus, but not sure how that's accomplished technically or at what price.
