Classic Side x Side
I am basically an 'OL FASHIONED TRADITIONALIST" kind of guy, and am looking for a SxS, English (straight) Stock, Double Trigger gun.
The only thing that I have found, (new), is the C Z Arms models, either the Bobwhite or Partridge. Anybody have experience with these? |

My FIL shoots a couple Browning English stockers in 12 and 20.

Thanks LB.
I checked out MERKEL. Perhaps I should have included in my original post "Suprisingly Affordable". |

Look for a used Savage or Fox BE. They are eminently more affordable than the Merkle (fine guns though). Browning made the BSS, but I don't think it was offered with an English stock. If you get the gun you can always have a custom stock fitted anyway to make the gun fit you. Price will depend on wood type, grain pattern, checkering patterns, yada, yada, yada.

A friend opening a new store showed me a Brno SxS of solid construction, plain finish, unusual (but unobvious) design, and very reasonable price. Unfortunately having a pistol grip.
There is one similar with straight grip, ejectors, (and higher price) at http://www.gunsamerica.com/976877827...xS_Shotgun.htm |

Browning makes an English stock - but finding DTs might be a tad more difficult
http://www.gunsamerica.com/976936700..._SPORTER_9.htm a nicely used Uggie or AyA might just fit your bill |

Kimber makes a real nice looking gun in 16 or 20ga - fixed chokes which I don't like personally - and retailing for around $5,000.
Beretta is making a 12 and a 20ga / but again with fixed chokes - I think they are retailing around $4,000 - and I believe they were all single triggers ( so not for the purist ). I'm not a big fan of SXS's ( I like them esthetically, but none of them come close to fitting me without some serious custom stock work - too short, too much drop ...) but there are an awful lot of good used guns out there too. You might check Cole Gunsmithing site ....... www.colegun.com he usually has some good used guns in stock / and I would trust his gunsmiths if he has an older gun - like a Fox or something - they should give you a good evaluation of it. |
