Sierra 170 grain

Hello everyone

New to the group. I am looking for Sierra -pro hunter 170 grain round nose bullets. This is my favorite bullet for my dad and my hunting rifles. I only have 22 bullets left. If anyone knows who may have some it would be much appreciated.

Thanks for the help

Sierra curently only makes one 170 grain bullet, meant for the 30-30.

http://www.powdervalleyinc.com/ has them in stock with a box of 100 selling for $21.67.

Hello Guys

Thanks for the response. It is for two 7 x 57 and 7 mm- 08. I know the bullet was discontinued about 5 years ago. I am just your simple reloader and I have two great recipes that shoots clover leafs from both of those guns.

I am just trying to find some left over bullets if possible.

THanks again

Yeah thats pretty doubtful then. Have you considered Hornady Interlock bullets? They are cheaper and IMO better as well. I don't shoot 7mm but in my caliber they have been the superior killer of water jugs.

I also used, and loved, those Sierras in my 7x57 carbine, I'm down to a dozen or so loaded rounds.
I'm trying other bullets like some old Speer 160 gr. Speer Grand Slams I found on a closeout sale some years ago. No cloverleaf accuracy but plenty good for the ranges I use my "scout" style rifle for.
After those, I have a couple boxes of Hornady 154 gr. round nose bullets to try. When I use those up, I'm thinking about Speer's 160 gr. Hot Cor spitzers. Who knows what will be available, but bargain priced round noses sure have worked well at the moderate velocities my little mauser launches them at.

The Hornady 7mm 154g round nose also got the ax for 2011 (as did the Hornady 6.5mm 160g round nose). The Hornady 7mm 175g round nose is safe for now.

Best bet is to post a "Wanted to Buy" ad for them on various reloading websites or shop around at gun shows for the 7mm 170g Sierra RN. I just came across someone willing to sell me 3 boxes of the Sierra 6.5mm 160g RN and I snatched them up! Good luck!
