Stupid I know...

I came across the movie "no country for old men", good movie but as anyone on here who has seen it would notice the shotgun the main guy uses. Looks like an 1100 or an 11-87? Not sure but anyway my question is, the suppressor he uses on it, is that possible to be made or sold?

Sure, there are lots of suppressed shotguns. I guess they are popular overseas for hunting without disturbing the neighbors.

But they don't sound anything like the one in the movie.

Look up VUPDblue's FAQ in the NFA section.

Depending on where you live it could be pretty easy or impossible, some states have weird laws, some don't.

the main guy? you mean Anton "Call It" Chigurh? It's a silenced 11-87, I believe. You in all likelihood cannot buy it.

Moss, the protagonist, uses a sawed off Norinco trench gun copy. Winchester 1897.

Legally, such a thing CAN be bought. Finding a 12ga suppressor here would be an almost impossible task. They'd fall into the NFA (of course) like every other suppressor available, the problem is that there is no demand for them because they are very big and very inefficient.

I would imagine you could also add very expensive to that as well.

An old ex friend of mines brother who worked at the post office made a silencer out of a two liter coke bottle. I have no idea if it worked but being a post office employee it wouldn't surprise me.

You could, but you do not have to. I make silencers as a hobby on my lathe. It costs me $20 to $60 in material and the ATF's $200 for each. I plan on making one for my 12 gauge some day. I know it will not be as effective as the ones on my rifles and pistols due to the large bore, but it will be fun. I will make it with a perforated rube inside to keep the shot cup closed until it exits. It might look like this.

If you want to see how Hollywood envisions a suppressed R11-87 (shooting blanks) here's a download link to a cut I pulled from the movie No Country for Old Men.

Caution, R-rated because of violence.
