my XD has one in the pipe at all times unless the gun itself in is pieces being cleaned. if i have to grab it in the middle of the night, every second counts and i dont want to have to worry about racking it in the dark and the slim chance something weird happening (jamming issue of some sort). i know that every time my hand hits the grip its ready to do what i need should the time come

I carry my gun loaded. I don't have a "night time" mode.
If someone has issues with only being semi-awake when things go bump in the night, then they can make whatever arrangement is safe for them. Maybe having to get out of bed and take one or two steps to reach their gun to insure they're fully awake. Having to rack the slide might be a solution for some, also. But not as a general practice just because it's night time. Last edited by Nnobby45; February 15, 2009 at 07:46 PM. |

I keep it cocked and locked:
An always loaded (with one in the pipe) Colt .45 auto. It is ready to go any time day or night. All I need to do is thumb down the safey and pull the trigger when needed.
