50AE Bullet Sources for Reloading

I've got a Desert Eagle that I'm thinking about reloading for. Do y'all have a good source for FMJ or plated bullets for the 50AE? I'm always looking for the lowest cost.

I have a 50 Beowulf and use the 50 cal pistol bullets for loading, they have several out.

What is the weight range for that round? The Beowulf, I use 300-420 grain and the cheapest are the Rainier 335 HPs and they work great. I was thinking of trying some lighter bullets for more range.

I was looking for around 325 - 350 grain. Do you have a favorite website to order those bullets online?

Midway is as good as it gets. I use Rainier 300 and 335 Plated. Hollow points and flat points. Stay away from the 275's, I haven't had much luck with them. The other two weights work very well for the Eagle.

Thanks guys for the Rainier tip. I was looking at my Lyman's 49th Reloading Manual. It only shows two loads. A 300 and a 325 grain, both jacketed hollow point. I wanted to know your thoughts on the Rainier 50AE platted bullets as far as being able to load them to max loads.

I'm guessing you are going to tell me to back dow 10% from the max JHP data. Basically, the load range should be between the min JHP and 90% of the max JHP specs?

Watch out for FMJ bullets that have lead exposed at their bases in the Desert Eagle. It's been said that some of the exposed lead vaporizes upon firing and gets into the gas system. Next to impossible to remove. Hate to see you with a Desert Eagle single shot....

I have spoken with Rainier regarding load data for the 335's. Phyllis emailed me some H110 load data that was right in line with other 325gr bullets. I don't have access right now to the data but it is what I remember. The Rainiers can be loaded to jacketed speeds in the DE. I believe I was told that they are designed to be shot from the 500 S&W also and I think rated at 1600fps which is beyond 50AE velocities.

Contact Rainier to confirm before using this information.
