They are out of Fort Worth, Texas. I have visited their store several times. They sell goods as well as teach classes. I have ordered from them as well out of the catalog and off the internet. Everything has been fine.
Aside from the fun of shopping in their store, the real benefit I have found they offer for me is .45 acp Federal Hydrashok Premiums in the 50 round box for $16.50. With tax (we are in the same state) and shipping to my home if I order it from the internet, it is still cheaper than anywhere else I have found it.

I order from them a fair amount. They are a good outfit.

Ditto what Coronach said. I've ordered from them several times, and have always received my order promptly.
Now, the UPS guy leaving the package outside, unsigned for, in plain view of anyone passing by, is a different matter. But that's not Ammoman's fault. FedEx did the same thing when Beretta shipped me a replacement gun.

I've ordered from them. The prices and service were good. However, I signed up for their e-mail list and started receiving e-mails daily from them that threw me right into their Web site as soon as I opened them. This sort of p***ed me off and I let them know it!
Havn't received e-mails from them or ordered from them since. I am on other vendors lists and none of them pull this kind of crap. |

I ordered a number of items from them...good prices and prompt delivery
Bizarre experience: I ordered a gallon of BreakFree CLP. It arrived with the foil seal carefully peeled back, and a bout 16 oz. missing - to me, clear warehouse pilfering. The customer service rep was genuinely mortified and offered a full refund on return of merchandise, or a credit on future purchases... There's a company that won't make excuses for a rogue employees actions... PS..I'd definitely order from them again (in fact I think I have)

BogBabe,
UPS/Fed Ex leaving packages at the door can be resolved easily. The options are leave at door, leave with neighbor, require a signature and require a signature over 18. USP once left my Stainless Walther PPK w/ Suppressor at my door following a short trip to the gunsmith for repairs. I was not a happy camper with them that day.

Bogbabe, your shipment of ammo left on your porch quite likely is Ammoman's fault, not that of the shipper. Actually, it is more your fault than that of Ammoman. Ammoman quotes prices to your door. Did you request special shipping requiring a signature of an adult? If not, then it isn't ammoman's fault. Remember, the carrier simply does as the shipping instructions indicate.
If you don't want packages left on your door step, then when you deal with people from whom you are ordering items, you need to specify what type of shipping you want and it may mean bumping up the price for the additional shipping costs.

I've ordered from "Cheaper Than Dirt" several times, and will likely order more product from them in the future.
Here are the facts about dealing with CTD, as gleaned from my personal experience with them. This data is presented in no particular order. Since they are just statements of fact , nothing is presented or should be taken in the pejorative sense. 1. Shipping and handling charges are reasonable, especially if one orders heavy items such as ammunition or cans for the same. Your order will usually be shipped via UPS Ground service. 2. The quality of CTD's shipment packaging leaves a bit to be desired. Their shipping boxes do not hold up well during normal handling in the transit process; this is aggravated if you order heavy items as mentioned in #1. Usage of cushioning material (balled-up paper, foam "worms", etc.) is minimal. Movement of product in the box will almost certainly occur. This increases the risk of product damage. 3. Their website is updated hourly during their hours of business, with respect to inventory levels. Very helpful, and the only website that I'm aware of that has this feature. 4. The women who answer the phone are polite, but are frankly lacking any in-depth product knoweldge. One lady that I dealt with even had difficulty repeating a basic rifle caliber to me. 7.62x39 is not normally stated aloud as "seven hundred point sixty two times, er, multiplied by 39". Oh well. 5. CTD prices are very competitive. Their surplus items are reasonably priced. TM |

There not in my top five, just because their name inplies it; does not make it so. I suggest shopping around some, you will find other places carry the same items for 20% less, sometimes even more of a discount. Never limit yourselves, they are usally the last place we look. But, to each his/her own. Regards LTS

Thumbs Up!
I just took delivery of some ammo that I ordered through their website. It's not the easiest thing to navigate if you're browsing, but if you know what you want you can find it fast.
They shipped my order the next day and I had my ammo within four business days. It was well packed and delivered without any damage. They also emailed me notification that it had shipped so I could track it. I give them an enthusiastic Thumbs Up!

Cheaper than Dirt
I had a great experience ordering from them. I ordered a fair bit of ammo for a variety of calibers, and for cheaper than anybody else (that day at least) on the internet would ship it. I like the idea of ONE hazmat fee, and their shipping is pretty reasonable. I will and have used them again, but as mentioned above, they are not ALWAYS the cheapest. I like Midway and Cabelas too (especially Cabela's after whatever season just finished and they are dumping product).
cheers, Vane

I know this thread is old but just so people know that I've had good dealings with them as well.. I ordered some Blue Wonder Armadillo (low price) and some Pachmyer (low price as well) snap caps for my .40 XD, everything arrived promptly.
