Glock slides....interchangeable?

One thing that drew me to these pistols is parts interchangeability. (mags, barrels, etc.)

I have a G23 and G27. I was cleaning both guns and accidently put my gen3 23 slide on my gen 2.5 27. Went right on like it was made for it. Racked it and pulled the trigger....click. Even loads/ejects a dummy round.

Got to wondering if it would be safe for me (and this frankenstien rig) to shoot?

Anyone done this with their Glocks?

I have heard of folks switching slides, but have never tried it. I wonder if you might have problems with the extractor working with a different caliber.

I'm using a Glock 22 (.40)with a Lone Wolf conversion barrel to 9mm.

You'd think the extractor wouldn't work because of different diameters but it seems to work perfectly.

(Have to use G17 mags to feed the 9mm rounds though. The .40 mag won't work right.)
