Are .22s and airguns effective practice?

Since this question pops up from time to time, here's what one of the top competitors does with his .22s and airguns:
Maybe it will put an end to all the criticisms of using these very useful tools.

I have a .22 pistol and rifle trainer as well as 3 air soft guns. Any type of shooting is good training if you incorporate drills to accommodate the rounds your firing. Obviously airside doesn't emulate recoil well so do work on splits or follow up shots. Work in draws, transitions movement etc. heck you don't even need air soft to practice that. A blue dummy gun would work too.

Good video. I practice with a .22 conversion I recently purchased for my P220's.
