Mauser bolt finish

I have a mauser with a bolt that's just bright polished metal, except that there are black spots on the knob that look like tarnish. Does anyone know how to restore the finish to this area? Is this tarnish spot a sign of anything I should be worried about?

Thanks in advance for any replies.

flet bobs and a dremel

You can use a felt bob and a dremel with some emery polish to clean it up nice. I use a buffer to do mine but used to do like I suggested. Just go slow and don't try to do it all at once. Spend some time on the tarnished spots. You may need to a scotchbrite pad to start with if the spots are stubborn. Good luck with it.
