My .22 pistols are the most valuable handguns in my collection.
I was updating the inventory of my handguns yesterday evening,,,
It's part of my will that I keep an updated price list for them. I don't have any tremendously valuable handguns,,, But I did notice one thing that seems strange,,, According to the 2013 gun value books,,, My .22's are my most valuable guns. Specifically:
The Trooper in .22 is valued higher than mine in .357,,, The J-frame .22's are all valued higher than their .38 counterparts. Last but not least,,, My CZ-75B Kadet in .22,,, Is valued higher than it 9mm counterpart. Is it all due to the fact that they probably made less of any .22 version than a centerfire counterpart? I know I paid some high prices for a few of them,,, It just never dawned on me that they were my most valuable handguns. Aarond .

I have a S&W M&P .22 (model 45-2) that is one of the two most valuable guns I have. The other being a K-32. .22s are my favorite guns. Have lost count but at least 25.

yep a quality .22 is usually worth more then its centerfire counterpart due to lower production numbers.

Yep. A K-Frame 22 Smith & Wesson will cost more than a 38/357 version. Same goes for a 22 Diamondback vs a DB in 38.
As well my 22 Dan Wesson. I probably paid too much for it, but I don't see them everyday. 357 DW's on the other hand seem to turn up fairly often.

What can I say? My 22 revolvers are my most valuable firearms. Acknowledged about 20 years ago that 22's were my favorites and most valuable, especially those Colts. That doesn't keep me from acquiring others however. 22's comprise about 70% of my accumulation.

The lowly 22!
I agree that one of my 22 pistols is worth more than any of my other handguns. I was offered $1500 for it. Had it since new. My Papa bought it for me Christmas 1972 for $148. I have the receipt in my files. It is not, and never will be, for sale. Oh it is a Belgian made Browning Medalist target pistol with case and all weights. I killed a lot of jack rabbits with that pistol in my youth. Most accurate handgun I have ever shot.
