First time gun buyer in No. VA
Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum and am planning on buying my first handgun for HD. I've been researching online and have a few I want to look at, but I honestly have no idea where to go to purchase a gun. Are there any other members out there from northern VA who can help me out? thanks!

Sharp Shooters (formerly Gilberts) in Lorton
http://www.sharpshootersva.com/ Louden Guns http://www.loudoungunsinc.com/ Virginia Arms http://www.virginiaarms.com/index.html I've been to all three, but the only place I've purchased a gun is Louden Guns. The folks were nice, and I believe the price I paid was reasonable. No experience with the other two to share. You could check with folks over at the Virginia Gun Owners Forum for more advice: http://vagunforum.net/ And don't forget to join the Virginia Citizens Defense League!! http://www.vcdl.org/

Where in N. Va are you located?
Virginia Arms gets a thumbs up from me. Depending on where in N. Va you are, this is also a good guy to deal with. http://www.dkfirearms.com/ Also, there is a gun show at the Dulles Expo Center in Chantilly this friday afternnon, sat and sun. It's a good opportunity to look at a lot of different guns and find one that fits you the best.

I recommend a drive down to Richmond (Glen Allen to be precise) and checking out Greentop.

+1 on the Greentop, one of the best gun shops I've been to. Very good staff. Pretty good prices too. As an additional plus you have the new Brass Pro shop no more than 5-10 min away with a very large selection of firearms.
