New AR---Ruger AR-556 MPR
Well Ruger has put out yet another 5.56 black rifle. The Ruger AR-556 ‘Multi-Purpose Rifle’. This one has an 18 inch barrel and a better trigger than the Ruger AR-556. The Ruger MPR is advertised as being more accurate than the Ruger AR-556.
http://ruger.com/products/ar556MPR/models.html GunBuyer is selling it for $560. https://www.gunbuyer.com/ruger-ar-55...30-1-8514.html Disclaimer: I’ve never done business with GunBuyer. Has anybody here tried out the Ruger MPR yet? |

Haven't tried it, but for the price it looks like a solid deal.

I seriously doubt there is any measurable difference in accuracy between the MPR and the 556. Both use 4140 and "ultra-precision rifling". The only difference is bore length. That's it. Two inches isn't changing much except for a little extra velocity.
In my opinion, 18" isn't what I would pick. In terms of maneuverability, my experience is that 18" is too long. You may as well get a full length 20" rifle and enjoy the full benefit of the velocity increase. Personally, I prefer a 16" barrel for ease of movement while still retaining acceptable velocities out at the distances I need.
