Benelli M4 vs. M1 Super 90
Just handled my first Benelli M4 today. Didn't seem like anything special to me, though it looked neat.
I've read a little about them but don't see that they are anything other than a different Benelli. Does anyone have any further information on them? What makes them actually worth $400-$500 more than the M1 Super 90? Just that it's a copy of the "military" shotgun or is there an actual performance difference? |

I handled one as well last Thursday (when I was picking up a used M1 S90 The M4 is selling for $1499. I don't know what the difference between an M4 & the M1 are, though, other than the skeletonized stock & a sight rail mounted on the receiver...

It's gas operated, which means you can throw as many tactical doodas on there without having the gun hiccup, which is a problem in some M1 Super 90s if you make 'em too heavy.
I ain't getting one until there is a dedicated foreend light for it.

Lessee, $1500 will buy you about 5 good WIHTF shotguns like 870s, or 3 used 870s with ALL the accessories and lots of ammo.
I think I'll take a pass on this.... |
