Used too
Well, I did, sort of......for a while, about 10-15 yrs. The carbine even had a receiver with the correct number of pin holes and a full auto bolt carrier, but was not selective. Made by Colt. Stepped 14.5" barrel, L-type two aperture sight, round, not oval handguards, the carbine may actually have preceded the official M4 by a few years.
But when I retired, I had to give it back. Darn handy little rifle though. |

What sort of information about M4s did you seek? or were you just polling?

Nope... my longest barrel these days is 12" (6.5), my 5.56 is only 10.5"

What are we seeking to learn?
I have a Colt LE6920... It has a 16in barrel, but I prefer them for ease of potential future work. It also uses Magpul furniture rather than GI, just more comfortable. But furniture is a quick swap back to GI. A 6920 is basically a semi only m4 with a 16in barrel for legality. It is about as close as you can get. |

I have one. I changed out the flash hider and installed a quick change adaptor instead so I easily install and remove my suppressor.

I think there are probably quite a few AR owners with M4gery's in their gun safe somewhere, most probably sporting a 16 inch barrel though. No reason you can't build one with a 14.5 inch barrel though, Ballistic Advantage offers barrels that length, and either pin or weld on a comp or flash hider to get to legal length, or file the appropriate forms and build it as an SBR.

Well, a true M4 clone (i.e. as close to an M4 as legally possible) wouldn’t have a pinned and welded flash hider since a mil-spec flash hider isn’t long enough to bring a 14.5” barrel to 16”. So it would have to be an SBR.
