What is the best sight post type for an MBUS?
A few years back when ARs were new to me I managed to break the front sight post of a magpul flip up front sight and never replaced it.
I am going to be using it on a new build (16" 223) I have been looking at different options and am wondering if anyone has input on what kind of post is best. I am looking for options both for low light situations as well as just shooting stuff at the range.

I've been very happy Blitzkrieg Components green luminescent front sight posts, but I don't know if they'll fit in a magpul front sight.

Blitzkreig does make painted, luminescent, and even tritium illuminated front sight posts to fit the Gen 2 Magpul MBUS polymer sights. A whole bunch of them in fact.
http://www.blitzkriegcomponents.com/...s.asp?Cat=1828 Some of these can be found and purchased on Amazon. |

Anyone know if there is a "standard" front sight thread type?

The standard A2 front sight post for an M4/M16 is #8x36, i,e, a thread pitch of 36 tpi (threads per inch). The Magpul MBUS uses a front sight post of different diameter. I am not sure if the thread pitch is the same.

If you're looking for a standard post for a MBUS, have you tried contacting Magpul? They may just drop one in the mail for you if you ask nicely.
