Are Pentax & Burris the same scope makers?

I've always been a Leupold fan. Some years back I bought a Pentax 6x24 Lightseeker scope to save about $150 off the Leupold 6x20. To my surprise the Pentax was superior in all respects. I owned 3 of the big Leupold 6x20 to compare with. I've talked to several "gun experts" & they tell me Burris is the American version of Pentax.

Is this true?

TIA...

AFAIK,
The Pentax Lightseeker was made in the US by Burris, and was very similar to the Burris Signature. Don't know if they still are being produced.
The Pentax Pioneer was a rebadged Burris Fullfield II, both made in the Philippines.
The Pentax Pioneer II was the Pioneer, but made in China.
The Pentax Gameseeker is made in China.
