If I ever decided to get a .380 it would be a G42. Concealable, reliable, light weight.

The only thing I don’t like about it is its capacity. 6 round mag just isn’t sufficient, especially given its size, since my LCP with the extended magazine has the same capacity. I keep one in the chamber and carry with a +1 extended magazine. 8 rounds is my minimum, which this setup just barely provides. So I also always carry a spare magazine. |

Front sight, your in luck. I purchased a pinky extension for one of my mags and it increased the capacity by "1" for a total of 8. (Maybe it was a Pierce.)

The gun I've carried more than anything in the past 2 years has been a Glock 42. During winter time when I have more clothing I've been carrying a Taurus PT111, PX4 Compact, or an M&P.
I've had half a dozen 380 pistols and I've not only kept the Glock, but customized it and shot the snot out of it. I have 3 holsters for it. I just ordered 1,500 more 380 projectiles and it's my only 380. Shoot it and carry it often.

I have two .380's Sig 238 and the Sig 232...My Wife carries the 232, In warm weather I sometimes carry the 238..not a big fan of the .380, I'm more of a .45 acp kinda guy I guess.. I tried the .9mm P938 couldn't hit a damn thing with it..My Kahr CW9 or Glock 19 are ok but I carry my PM45 Kahr more these days..easy to carry and Hits where I point it.

Just can't see why I would carry a 380 (Glock 42) that is longer, taller, and wider than my Kahr CM9 9MM

None of my four Makarovs (.380 Auto Russian, 9x18 EG and Bulgy) have had any malfunction.
My Sig 232 was just as reliable. Is reliability a concern with other types? Last edited by Ignition Override; November 15, 2017 at 07:59 PM. |

Most of whom just read about the complaints on the Internet and have never even handled one.
The same could be said for any brand, even S&W, Ruger, Colt, Glock (yes, Glock), Sig, etc. Just sayin' Of course we could all be sure about the reliability of the good ol' Louisville Slugger. |

My wife and I both looked at that target and asked why are we shooting at the back of his head?
Nice shooting with the new gun! |

I only own one 380 and it's an older Sig P230 Now - a - days it sits in the safe 99% of the time, the other 1% is when I take it out and look at it, and maybe give it a quick clean up and lube job. It's a nice piece and pretty accurate to boot.

I have and LCP which is my pocket gun when I can't or don't want to carry something bigger.
I also have a Beretta 85B which is a gem. Cocked and locked smooth Italian shooter. I have had several other 84 series Berettas but they came and went the 85 will stay.

I bet I've owned more Kahrs than most. I don't trust them. On top of the reliablility issue, the Kahr 380 is very blocky and prints. It is not smaller than an LCP. Sorry, internet is wrong. I've owned both at the same time.
G42 and G43 +1 without extension is available. Just bought one for my LCP: https://www.magguts.com/products/glock-42 |

Cheapshooter: The Beretta Nano is also nearly identical in size to a glock 42, but if you can't be as accurate with it, IMO the edge for me goes to something I know I can but 6 or 7 shots where I aim.

ive owned a few Kahrs in my time. the mk and k models were jewels as far as reliability. the pm models were a different story save for one original pm9.
some folks don't like the idea of having to kitchen table gunsmith their guns to get them to work right or fire 200+ rounds to break them in, or pay shipping to and from for the factory to change problematic parts. while every manufacturer has the odd lemon, some seem to have considerably more than others. |

At $150 after rebate, the Remington RM380 really has my interest peaked.

I have/had three .380’s.
I bought a brand new AMT Backup II in about 1992. It has always been a very reliable little pistol and works well. I still have it and I still carry it when I need to carry something small. I have a Smith & Wesson Bodyguard.380 with the laser. I bought it about the time they first came out. My wife shot it once and claimed it for her own. I had a Taurus PT-738 that worked very well. My oldest daughter always liked to shoot it every time we would go out shooting. When she moved out, I gifted it to her since it was “her” pistol. I have nothing but good to say about any of the three .380’s that I have owned. I guess when you come right down to it, I only have one .380 since the womenfolk in my family made off with two of the three that I owned. |

An older pre-ban PPK or imported PPK/S would be nice. Expensive for a nice one these days but I like how the heavier frame helps handle the recoil impulse and the fixed barrel makes accuracy a little easier. Plus the SA trigger pull is quite nice. Lots of great newer options too but in that size I like the metal and the nicer trigger. It’s not like a gun that small drags the pants down regardless of the frame material.

For a cartridge that engenders so little respect, a .380 thread sure generates a lot of posts. This is post 123. Lol. I love it.

Weren't those Beretta 85s used as police guns?
The .380, like the 9MAK, can be effective even for police and .military work. Same for the .32. |

Speaking only for my own Kahr CM 9 I can say the 200 round break in was probably not necessarily. 200 rounds of trouble free shooting. With a variety of ammunition. From first out of the box to now with at least three times, if not more, the 200 rounds, and still never a hiccup.
Thinking the biggest reason some people don't like them is the name doesn't begin wiyh "G" or "S".
