Looking for any feedback on X bullets or failsafes. In any caliber. Good, Bad, or Ugly.
Fouling problems, results on game [ie did it expand at all, did it make an exit wound?]. |

The only bullet I use now for whitetails in my 7mm-08 is the Barnes XBT 130gr. Performance has been outstanding, beautiful mushrooms on the ones I've recovered. Accuracy is good (the best has been with Nosler BT's- unsastifactory results on game) and fouling has been reduced by using moly coated XBT's. Copper buildup was a little more than with jacketed bullets but nothing a little elbow grease can't fix.
No experience with failsafes |

Have you ever shot coyotes or other varmints with that load? Wondering if they expand on light critters much.

yeah, I've taken a few 'yotes with that load. Exit holes have varied, some left little holes (mostly shorter ranges) and on some the amount of hide left wasn't worth a dime

So your saying at short range [under 100?] it doesn't seem to mushroom? Or that it mushrooms so violently it breaks off the "X" and leaves the solid base?
