Good Deer
I've hunted on a couple of ranches around San Angelo and there's some really good deer around there. There's not as many as in South Texas where I'm at now, but there are some South Texas quality deer around there, just not as many. Just make sure you check out the ranch first and make sure it hasn't been over hunted. Some ranches around there have been. My dad has done Taxidermy for years in his part time and now that he's retired, he does it alot more. Most of the big whitetail that he mounts every year are from the San Angelo area. Usually south to south west of San Angelo. He's mounted several 150+ class deer from that area. I went doe hunting on a ranch west of San Angelo that has been game managed for years and saw several 150+ bucks. They took 2 that went over 165 last year. But you pay for what you get. That ranch runs around $2500 a gun. If you can find a lease in your price range around there, it will probably be worth it.
