Weatherby Vanguard - 7mm Rem. Mag loads

Just trying to see who else has one of these, and what factory loads or handloads they're getting getting good groups from.

The factory target that came with the rifle had a 3-shot group that was a little over 1 inch. It was test fired with 150 gr. bullets, not sure what brand of ammunition.

I've tried 160 Sierra BT's, 162 Hornady Interlock BT's, and 175 gr. Sierra BT's with no luck so far. The powders I've tried are H4831 and RL-22.

Any advice on working up a good 7mm RM load would be appreciated.

loaded

IMR 4831 62 gr about 1 grain over book. I think you will like it with a 160 gr bullet. Best regards

CAUTION: The following post includes loading data beyond currently published maximums for this cartridge. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK. Neither the writer, The Firing Line, nor the staff of TFL assume any liability for any damage or injury resulting from use of this information

These loads gave the requisite accuracy.

69gr. H4831 in WW cases with CCI250 under a 145gr. Speer. THIS LOAD WAS MAXIMUM IN MY R700! I stopped using it because the 3130fps velocity caused the bullet to come apart, making a mess of the 6 deer shot with it. At least I didn't have to do much gutting.

68gr. H4831 with the same components under a 150gr. Nosler Partition behaved much better. THIS LOAD WAS ALSO MAXIMUM IN MY R700.

67gr. H4831 with the same components under a 154 Hornady behaved even better and showed head expansion of .003.

I made some Hornady 139gr SST with RL22 for a friend's Howa. I think Howa and Vanguard are pretty close to the same.

OAL on cannelure and near max of powder with Winchester/Remington mixed brass full-length sized with Federal 215M primers.
