Slick Rear Sight on Uberti Yellowboy Carbine

Besides my .357 Mag Rossis, I've also got a couple of Ubertis in 45 Colt; a 24" '73 Special Sporting Rifle and a 19" '66 Yellowboy carbine. The carbine is really handy and as both of them are limited to standard pressure loads, I'm launching the 255grn bullets at only about 1,150fps with a decent load of Universal powder out of my Yellowboy.

While my rifle has a Lyman tang sight giving it a 30" sight radius for longer accurate shooting and it launches the loads at 1,209fps, it's a bit heavy to lug around in the woods all day at 8lbs 14oz loaded with 14rds.

So, when I decide to take my 45 Colt instead of my .357 Mag carbine, I take the carbine. At 7lbs, 14oz with 11rds, it's a full lb lighter than the rifle.

What I really like about taking the carbine is that Uberti added a really neat flip up rear sight that works very well with my loads. It's small sight that I've set for 100yds with it down:

And with it up, the notch in the bottom of the oval is good for 200yds, the center of the oval is good for 300yds, and the notch in the v at the top is close to good for 400yds. As it's a carbine, I rarely shoot at anything over 250yds with it. But it's nice knowing I can.

All in all, the carbine is a great shooter and a ton of fun to carry during 'woods walks', or just knocking around, especially when I pair it with my SAA Cattleman in 45 Colt on my hip.

I wholeheartedly agree. I've got a Cav model SA in .357 Mag for my Rossis as well as the SAA in 45 Colt. Loaded down to medium loads, they are fun sidekicks to my leverguns.
