Texas State Guard rifle.

In the 70s, I think, a member of the texas state guard designed .308 rifle for possible use for the state guard. Can't remember his name. Memory is getting fuzzy but it looked like a combination of the FAL, the Galil and a bit of the AK.
Any one remenber this?
