Vintage Military Handgun Match
Our club offers these matches for handgun models that were used by military organizations 50 years ago and before. We figured, if vintage military bolt rifles could have a match, handguns should be able to have one as well. Here is our match program:

THIS WILL MAKE TRANSITIONS DURING SCORING FASTER AND MORE EFFICIENT. OTHER EQUIPMENT SHOULD BE SIGHT BLACK, A SPOTTING TELESCOPE OR BINOCULARS. ALL SHOOTERS WILL CARRY THEIR HANDGUNS TO THE FIRING LINE IN A CASE. THE HANDGUN MUST BE POINTING DOWNRANGE WHEN THE CASE IS OPENED. What: A tournament using handguns used by military organizations that the model was used at least 50 years ago or older, all shooting is with one hand at targets at 25 yards. Where: Southwest Gun Club’s McComb Range facility. It is 6 miles East of McComb, MS on US Highway 98. When driving from McComb, drive East on US98 until you see the Homestead turnoff sign. Drive 2 miles further and the entrance to the range is on the North side of the road. If driving from Tylertown, MS, drive past the Bogue Chitto River Park and look for a roadside market on the right. The range road is 2.2 miles past the store, on the right. The name of the range road is Edna Drive. When: 3/3/12 & 4/4/12, signup at 8:30AM shooting starts 9:00AM Equipment: Any CF handgun model used at least 50 years ago, by any military organization in as issued condition. The following being examples of these pistols but not the only handguns allowed: 1. P08 Luger 2. US 1911 3. P38 4. Webley revolvers in .380 or .455/.45 5. S&W & Colt revolvers in .38 S&W, .38 SPL. .45ACP, .455 Webley & .45 Colt 6. TT33 Tokarev 7. Model 1895 Nagant 8. CZ52 Czech 9. Beretta Brigadier 9x19 10. Steyr 1911 11. Astra 400 12. Astra 600 13. Star Model B 14. Star Model P 15. Super Star 9mm Largo Other pistols will qualify as long as they are as issued (no after market sights) and not altered in anything but a trigger job. Not everyone has an original pistol and we do not want to eliminate any potential shooters from this contest. As long as the pistol or revolver is of the same model as the handgun used by the military organization, it will qualify even if it is less than 50 years old. We also will not prevent anyone from firing in this match because of their pistol not qualifying. If their pistol does not qualify, their score will be counted in a special category. Ammunition: Any safe ammunition of the proper caliber will be allowed. No tracer rounds allowed. Additional Rules: Shall be taken from the NRA Conventional Pistol Rule Book. Course of Fire: All shooting done at 25 yards with one hand on the US Army “L” Target. Sight in period, 10 minutes unlimited sighters 1. Slow fire event: 2-10 shot strings with a time limit of 10 minutes per string. 2. National Match Course: 10 shots slowfire in 10 minutes 10 shots timed fire in 2 strings of 5 shots in 20 seconds 10 shots rapid fire in 2 strings of 5 shots in 10 seconds 3. Timed fire event: 20 shots timed fire in 2 stages of 2 strings of 5 shots in 20 seconds 4. Rapid-fire event: 20 shots rapid fire in 2 stages of 2 strings of 5 shots in 10 seconds Fee: $10.00 for Adults, $5.00 for Juniors. If awards are deemed necessary, the fee would be $5.00 higher.
