Beretta 686E Sporting opinions please

Hi all,

I am in the market for a new shotgun used primary for skeet shooting, and possibly a little sporting clays. My budget is under $2000. I have handled a lot of guns over the past few months and have found that the Beretta 686E Sporting fits me better than anything else I have tried. I really like the feel and fit of it. It has a 28" barrel and mobilchokes. I have a few questions...

1. Is this a good gun for skeet shooting? I plan on shooting about 200 rounds per week with it.

2. Are the new Optima barrels/chokes really any better than the mobilchokes? Will I see any more recoil with this model?

I'd like to hear anyone's opinion on this gun from those who own ne or have shot one. Thanks!

Chris

Oh... and is $1700 a reasonable price for a brand new one considering it's a discontinued model in the USA?

The price seems reasonable. All 686 parts are the same so just because that model is no longer imported service and parts availability will be no problem. I shoot a 686 trap gun and it shoots as well as my 682. No noticeable difference in felt recoil and number of targets broken.

One of the best target guns made IMHO.
