Barrel Twist-rate Question

Anybody know the twist-rate of an early (1985) era Ruger Mini-14 carbine, chambered in .223? Counting the rotations of my cleaning rod, I came up with a 1:9" rate of twist. Does this sound right? Thanks.

If I remember from a post on rugerforum.net by a poster who would know, originals were 1:10, 1988 to 1994 were 1:7 and then they went to the 1:9 that is still used now.
