Where is the .308 brass?

I have been all over the internet and at my local gunstore. Everybody seems to be out of .308 brass. Anyone know where I can buy some commercial brass?

Thanks, I found them earlier. Unfortunately it's seems to be military brass and the new Savage I bought gets a sticky bolt with military brass. I'm assuming that this might be due to a thicker neck, as I did reduce the load. Doesn't happen with commercial brass.

I never heard of these guys, thanks. Maybe it's machine gun fired brass...? I mean with the sticky bolt comments and all...

There is no WW or RP brass in the supply system. The only stuff around is Lapua and Nosler. Messing with LC 308 brass is sort of a problem as most was fired in a MG with a sloppy chamber ie Scharch. Go over to THR and do a search for USSR he has some LC M118LR brass for sale that was shot in match rifles and is good brass!

It's lying around on the ground in Iraq and Afghanistan. Don't you get the news there?

In my shop.

Seriously, dont let LC brass from a MG scare you. They are a bit worse then normal 308 semi's as far as scretching brass from shoulder to base, but they can be sized and reloaded without any problems. Like all brass out of a semi a case gage should be used to set up the sizing die and check the end product but they are still excellant brass. I use them in my M1A in High Power and 1000 yard matches. Nothing wrong with them.

do you just use normal dies for MG fired brass... you don't have to use a small base die for the first sizing...?

No sir, not unless your gun is extra tight. All my 308s size with normal FL sizing dies. However one of my 223s wants a SB die, the other two don't.

Just depends on the gun. The main thing is to get the shoulder set back to specs.

Oh, just note, some people are gonna tell you brass for MGs are differant then rifle brass. Thats not true, its the same brass, just some are loaded into belts, some arnt'

Seperate them by lots, LC will make you some pretty diecent match brass. If you really want to get picky seperate them by weight and flash hole size. Never really seen the need. But then I dont shoot bench rest.

USSR on THR is currently out. I left him a message to contact me when he gets more. He is getting LC match. I use LC in other rifles without a problem, but the small amount of .308 brass that I do have is HXP. I think I'll do some measuring tomorrow and compare to the book to see if I can find the problem.

If you get some LC brass get a SB die for the first sizing before anything!

I just got in the mail a box of 100 Lapua .308 brass. Ordered it a month ago, had to wait till they got more in stock. They already sold out of what they just received.

www.gibrass.com Had 7.62x51 not too long ago. Nice stuff. I use mostly mg fired ofb in 5.56/7.62x51. My SB dies collect dust. Mind the charge weight in military .308- case IS smaller, unlike 5.56/.223.

Ive been waiting on a 1000 308 brass and 1000 223 brass from topbrass for a few weeks now. The whole order was like 263$. These brass are once fired, deprimed, sized, and tumbled. Havent seen them yet though.
I think it was about 100$/1000 for 223
the 308s where 163$/1000 .. Not a bad deal. still waiting though.

308 brass

Is there anyone that knows how much you can trim the case before it is not usable any more?
