Rem. 1100 vs. 1187
Looking at getting an auto-loader, and have narrowed it down to these two. As I'm not a shotgun guru by any stretch of the imagination, I'd like to solicit some comments on their differences.
Primary uses will be hunting and busting the occasional sporting clay. Thanks.

The 1100 (2 3/4" shells) is fine for upland birds and sporting clays. I use mine mainly for dove hunting each year. The 11-87 can shoot a 3" shell and therefore might be better for turkey, ducks, geese. Of course, there are plenty of old-timers who'll tell you that there isn't anything you can't take just fine with the 1100.

The only difference between a 1100 and a 11-87 is that the barrel on the 11-87 has a self regulating gas system that allows you to shoot 2 3/4" and 3" shells without changing the barrel.
