.22pump rifle

When I was a boy I hunted armadillos in Louisiana with my uncle's pump rifle. As I remember it was called a 22 Special and fired a cartridge slightly larger than a .22 LR Can't remember if it was a Remington or Winchester. It was about 75years ago. Anybody know what I'm talking about?

Yes.
If it was marked ".22 Special" it was a Remington.
The .22 Remington Special is the same cartridge as the .22 Winchester Rimfire* but as was common then, they wanted their own name on it.

*Not .22 Winchester Magnum Rimfire which came along a lot later.
