I haven't bought any brass since I started reloading a few months ago, so can't comment to that. But I have found that Mike at mastercastbullets.com is one of the most helpful people in the industry. I have bought some hard cast bullets from him, loaded and shot them, and just placed another order from him last week. A really class individual from a first-rate company! I am confident that you will not go wrong there.

Magnus Bullets has good products at good prices. You usually have to leave a message but he calls you right back within a couple hours. He uses the USPS flat rate shipping and you save a pile on freight. I haven't ordered anything in about a year but he had the best prices I could find.

I just got a good deal on cast-bullets at LeadheadBullets in Kansas.
One of the lowest prices I've seen lately is from Mastercast Bullets. Their prices are fairly low, but what really makes it a great deal is that their price INCLUDES shipping. Hard to beat that deal. When I bought 250 bullets that are 300 grains each, the shipping was around $12. Kev |

I don't buy brass for the most part - when I do, I go to Sportsman's Warehouse. On bullets, I'm using Montana Gold exclusively - and they are very high quality - and competitive in my opinion. They have a good website - and shipping is free.

I should be more specific...Rifle Bullets. Also, w/ shotgun shells going up, and my new found love of skeet and sporting clays, I was curious about lead shot, wads, etc.

I'm deathly afraid of getting back in to shotshell loading. 20 years ago, I was shooting 8 rounds of skeet a week with a gorgeous Browning Citori Skeet in 20 gauge, and cranking out shotshells by the boxful from my trusty MEC-650. IIRC, 25-pound bags of shot were about 9 bucks. I think that's right... I could be mistaken. Those bags are what, about $45-$50 a bag now? That's friggin' nightmarish.

I'd really like to know what the cost per round is currently is for 12 ga. 2 3/4" loads, 1 1/8 oz shot, 1200-1300 fps.

Did The Lovemaster get slapped down?
Anyways I like moly bullets. They are halfway in price between hardcast and jacketed, and don't seem to lead my barrels at all. My best source right now is www.precisionbullets.com. And their prices include shipping.

Best times to check are early in the morning, lunch time, and after work. Those are the times that stuff usually gets posted that sells the fastest. I've found some great deals here and other forums. |

The cost of reloading a shotshell - 12ga , even with a bag of shot at about $ 35 now - a box is about $ 4.50 per box ( compared to a premium shell like a Remington STS at about $ 7.50 a box ).

Buy your supply of shot by the ton - there are only 80 bags to the ton. If you and your buddies get together - you can easily split up a ton or two of shot. Of course it would have been better if you had bought 2 tons of shot when it was $ 18 a bag instead of $35 a bag - but I'm betting the cost will go over $ 50 a bag before it comes down - so I calculate my inventory at a 2 year usage. Its easy to store / doesn't take up a lot of room - but keep it dry and it won't last forever without getting corroded and kind of dusty.

Foundry lead alloy is about $3/lb plus delivery at about $2 per mile. A ton is 2,000 pounds.
