Actually, it's a stainless 3" 686. The stainless hammer and trigger are a giveaway. Those parts have always been case-hardened on nickel and blued S&W's.

(It's an easy way to tell if a Smith has been re-nickeled if the hammer and trigger are silver.)

Thank you for that info. I should know that since my favorite revolver is a nickle M19!
