They worked on the P46 pistol that used the same 4.6X30 round as the MP7, but I wouldn't call the MP7 a rifle exactly. As far as know the P46 never went into production.

I shot a H&K 91 (.308) cut down to the size of a MP5; does that count?

I think a lot of these new rounds are reaching "rifle" velocities and they get labeled as such...a little misleading, but good marketing strategy.

This reminds me of the proto type 6.5x25 9mm shell tapered down to a 6.5 sabot down to 4mm tungsten (hard and dense) 31g at 2750 fps from a 7.8" barrel.

Not HK, but a HK-91 clone made by PTR, inc is built as a pistol so that once you SBR it, all you have to do is add a buttstock and you're done: no barrel cutting. So, that's a 7.62x51 pistol.

Atlantic Firearms sells these for about $1,000.

IIRC, there's a 5.56 and a 7.62x39 version, too.

Has anyone ever made a bullpup handgun for better balance in 5.56?

It is the 556. great lil round. It is little but can fit i think 20 or 30 rds in a handgun. VERY accurate but not much stopping power. I know I would not to be shot with one.....

the FN P90 is in 5.7.. they also have the handgun counterpart the FN Five-seven which is a handgun in 5.7... the idea was to have primary weapon and side-arm in the same calibre so your not carrying around two different types of ammo.. they did tone that ammo back though.. i think they were reaching 2800 fps at first but they scaled them back to like 2200-2300.. if my memory serves
