xdm

I have a roll pin, on the top of the slide, of my springfield XDM that keep wanting to work it way out. I took it to a local gun smith and was told that springfield did not send them any roll pins and could not fix the problem. Any suggestion on how to keep the roll pin in or what pin might fit?

Could you stake it in place?

Solution to your problem

1. Using the proper diameter "roll pin punch" do your best to eyeball the pin equally on both sides.
2. Put a drop of clear fingernail polish on one end of the pin & gently blow dry with a hairdryer.
3. Put a drop on the opposite end of the pin & let dry.
4. Repeat steps 2 & 3 again.

I contacted Springfield after finding the striker retaining roll pin was broke. Springfield is sending my a new one tomorrow. If after a while it brakes too then I will contact Powder River Precision and try theirs. So far this is the only thing about the XDM that has failed but you would think that putting in a more durable pin would be high on their list of improvements. I'll replace the pin when the new one gets here and I'll see how it goes.
