Anyone who thinks a poorly placed 50 bmg shot wont kill has obviously not seen that monster at work. I have seen it cut whitetails in half. I have seen pictures from afghanistan of men hit in the pelvic area and cut nearly in half.

Id use my 243 but keep shots to 150 yrds where I could hit what I wanted. Unless one shots several 100 rounds at 400 yards the few months before season no one has the skills to be shooting 400 yards--flame away.

But then one might wonder how many of those 400 yard shots are really about 165??

I would use a 30-06 165gr sp and keep my shots under 300 yards. I know this combination works on prairie dogs, jackrabbits, and mule deer. I don't hunt anymore but still like to shoot the gun.

At some point I have to wonder What is the motive when the trigger is pulled?

I absolutely support hunting when there is respect for the animal and consuming the meat is a priority.

But the idea of using big game for splatter porn or a block of ballistic gel ,just for cheap thrills and bragging rights brings disgrace to hunting,IMO

I dont hunt that way. A guy I know shoots deer soybean field crop protection. Permit requires deer be left in field and not moved. Why not play with the BMG on occasion? The buzzards and yotes eat them whether they got shot with .223 or BMG.
