LCR's (38, 357, 9mm) and lead
Do any of you shoot lead bullets with your LCR in 38, 357, and/or 9mm? If so, does the barrel get excessive leading?
I found this interesting, not only will a .356" lead 380 bullet pass through the cylinder throats on a LCR 9mm, but a .358" lead 38 bullet will also easily pass through. That's how a LCR 38 I used to have was, so maybe all they did was rework the extractor end of the cylinder to accommodate the 9mm round and moon clip. The 38 was terrible in regards to the barrel leading, which suggests that the groove diameter may have been oversized since the bullets weren't getting skinned down by the throats. |

I run hard cast 158gr SWC bullets thru my 3" LCRX with no excessive leading issues in my revolver.

With the introduction of plated bullets, I stopped scrubbing lead out of my revolvers and 45acp bullseye gun years ago. As hard as I tried to find the perfect combo of hardness/powder, there was always some lead left to remove. Plated bullets cost a little more but in my opinion are the cats fanny when it comes time to clean your gun.
