Howdy

How goes everyone! Wanted to say hi, and introduce myself. Names Cody, avid shooter my whole life, and starting to get black powder itch. Had a Colt 1860 Army, a Winchester 1885 and a 1897 for a few years, and have been expanding my collection rapidly of late. Looking at joining a Cowboy action club, and loading my own rounds in black powder. The smoke it leaves behind is so cool, why would anyone want to shoot smokeless. As it sits I now I also have two 1851 navy Colts and a 45/90 Sharps Carbine, with the only replicas being the 1885 falling block and Sharps Carbine. And I'm about to buy more. Anyways.. Howdy

Cody

Welcome to the forum!
I'm an 1860 man myself! It's my pistol of choice.
But I do have a couple of '51s in the mix too.
Throw up a couple of pics when you get a chance! Everybody loves pictures!

Welcome aboard Cody.

There's a lot of BP knowledge here; so, don't hesitate to ask if you have questions.

Thanks for the kind greetings. I've already been through a few pages here, and have learned much. I'll post some photos, might just take some time. On a work trip, only have a decent photo of the 1851's. Now i just need to remember my photobucket info

I have to say it again....

You could show me a million photos of 1851 Navy revolvers and when you showed me the million and first photo, I would still say, "Dang, Thats a purdy pistol."

I'm sure they are 2nds. I know they are not 1st, and was unsure if they had a 3rd run with threse yet. Much to still learn about these, and I'm looking forward to it!

Third gens have Sam Colt's signature on the back strap. They have the Colt name but weren't made by Colt. The second gens were Italian parts, fit and assembled by Colt.

I was wondering what Generation they were. 3rd Gens or Sig Series have Sam Colt's signature on the backsrap. 2nd Gens have no signature and are between SN 4201 and 29150. If they are both 2nd Gens, the one with the rounded trigger guard is extremely rare ( somewhere around 100 made) and worth low 4 figures.

Welcome to the forum Cody! Nice set of Navies! But then I'm partial to the Navy . . . . I really didn't know they made anything else but that model!

Sounds like you are "well armed". You'll meet a lot of fine folks here . . . and lots of good information as well! Enjoy!
