Victor Sarasqueta

Hi folks,
I was hoping to get some information on one of my dad's shotguns. I know it's a Victor Sarasqueta, made in Eibar Spain. I know he had it shipped to him in 1967, though i'm not sure when it was built.
I also know that he had a 'Miller' trigger put into it. I do have the original trigger still though. He always kinda made a big deal about the Miller trigger and i'm not sure why. the paperwork says it's a model DH (one i can't find in the good book (blue book) i have), and it's a 12 guage.

the gun is not for sale and i know that it's only worth what someone is willing to pay for it

i'm wondering what something like this would go for, just rough guess, market value...i'm just wondering what i have, is all.

this all came about because a cousin of mine wanted to buy a rifle from me, and i had to get an assessment for that. while getting an assessment for the rifle, i've been taking this shotgun along and i'm getting nowhere with it. one 'assessor' even told me the mfg'er was 'Eibar'

BTW, the winchester pre-64 model 70 .243 rifle i had assessed didn't get sold either...didn't know what i had, so i'm keeping it.

it's a really cool gun, one my dad loved (he passed in 2005), and i'm glad i'm able to have it.
attached are some pics. any input would be cool.

Thanks!
Pete

My 32nd Edition Blue Book only shows Model Numbers for Victor Sarasqueta shotguns. Can you find anything at all on it indicating a Model No.? Are both barrel sets 12 ga. or is the second set a different ga.?The top end Model 12E in 100% lists at $3700 while the base Model 4 in 100% still lists at $995. It does not have any information on a cased set with two sets of barrels.

It's still a very nice looking shotgun, probably used for trap and skeet shooting, a "Gentleman's Gun" if you will.

Here is something on the gun maker. It apparently was a very high end gun.

This link is a Google translation of a thread with 2 pics of guns from around 1970. If you register you can see all the pics of the other Sarasqueta guns spread through 13 pages.

"It is the DH-E of the late '70s..."

I haven't found a current price yet.

You can still buy Miller triggers, but only for Parker, Fox and Ithaca NID SxS guns.

www.millersingletrigger.com/Price.html

Non-Selective - $1250

Selective - $1600

Many sought out Miller triggers on older Spanish guns to replace double triggers or original Spanish single triggers which were not very reliable in the 50s and 60s.

You have a very nice example of Spanish gun making, enjoy it!

V.Sarasqueta's were not marked with a model number but used the engraving to designate the different grades. Yours I believe is a number 12, which was the top of the line, except for a few presentation pieces often called a number 13. I have a number 6 that gets regular use.

Look over at www.gunsinternational.com they have a section just for the Victor Sarasqueta shotguns.

What you have is far above what is listed there, with the fitted case and all the paper work. Enjoy the gun and hand it down to your kids making sure they know what it is.

I was wondering if that case is the kind made to lash to a running board on an early 20th Century car.

Browning and some other suppliers sell that style case and they call it a Motor Case. Generally is is large enough for two guns. This case was made for the Victor S. and just fits the one gun.

As far as cases go look at www.emmebi.it their cases are made for high end guns and the prices are high end also.

wow.

folks, thanks.
really appreciate all the insights to my dad's gun. awesome info!!!

definetly keeping it. it's a piece of the family history.
yeah, it seems that case is made just for that gun, fit's like a GLOVE! you can flip that case around four ways to sunday and the gun sits solid in that case.

thedaddycat,
yes, both sets of barrels are 12ga.

johnbt,
thanks. i know the gun was shipped in 1967 based on the paperwork in the case, from what it looks like, was the gunmaker and customs (my spanish is rusty )
I'd assume the addition of the miller trigger is a plus? sometimes it seems that when you screw with anything original you diminish it's price.

oneounceload,
thanks!

birdshot,jaguarxk120...
I'm going to see if i could find out more based upon the engraving, by posting it over at gunsinternational... THANKS!
