Did you hold the shotgun correctly?

I think that even if you were holding it with four arms and two shoulders that sucker would still bite like hell

Yes I think I was holding it correctly, I am pretty small maybe
5' 9'' 165#
That same day I put about 100 rounds through my M44 and turk so that probably has something to do with it also.

I'm about your size, 5-8 and 170#. I'm also 60 and don't enjoy heavy recoil anymore although I have no problem shooting an 870 with Federal Tactical buckshot.

When I was about 20 I went to the range with a friend who had just bought an O/U .458 Win. and a 10 ga. magnum S/S. Both weighed about 12.5 to 13#. After shooting 2 rounds through each I felt like I had whiplash. My shoulder didn't bother me, but my neck was sore for a few days. No fun!

By the way....the guy who owned the guns had to take two steps back every time he fired the .458 to keep from falling over. He was about 5-5 and weighed about 130#. It was sort of comical to watch him.

This 10ga weighed approx. 8.5 pounds I'd say. It was my friends gun I think it was a Rossi. I had to take a step back after firing it or I think I would lose my balance.

For some reason I was expecting it to be much worse than it was, I would have no problem hunting with it.

That helps explain why the 10 ga. made your shoulder feel a little mushy

And how come you didn't tell me you were hurting from the shooting.

And I know you didn't put 100 rounds through your guns.

you shot your turk 20 times. Mosin about 20 or 25. and the SKS about 40 but Your SKS have very little recoil. As it seems when I shoot it.
