Variable Power Scope - Does the 1/4 MOA Clicks Vary With Zoom?
Hi all.
I've got a Bushnell Elite 3200 5-15x40mm Tactical Riflescope, Mildot. I know this scope uses the 12X setting for ranging with the Mildots. Does anyone know if this applies to the clicks which are 1/4 MOA--that they would be 1/4 MOA at 12x but change as you go up or down in zoom? I can't seem to find this answer on the quick search I've done so far. Thanks. |

The clicks are always 1/4 MOA, even though the reticle only subtends correctly at one power setting.

Thanks...
Thanks for your answer zoom.
So I get that 1/4 is always 1/4 MOA. If the scope's setting at 12x...1/4 MOA is 1/4" at 100 yards. So at 6x, would that be 1/2" at 100 yards or still 1/4"? I'm trying to start on the proper principles of long range shooting. Thanks. |

The click corresponds with a changed angle. Power does not effect the angle.
When sighting in at 100 yards, one click is 1/4" at 4x and is still 1/4" at 8x and is still 1/4" at 12x. |

The only thing that changes with your variable magnification is what the little hash-marks on your cross-hairs mean.
The scope adjustment turrets will always move the center of the cross-hairs 1/4 MOA per click, regardless of the magnification used. |
