NY Police Revolvers

Today's question is about NY police revolvers. Again, a curious friend wants to know, and I don't have an answer, so here goes...
(If anyone knows...)

Did/does any NY police agency ever buy and issue any Ruger revolver??

Anyone know when NY police stopped using/issuing Colt revolvers??

I doubt there is any uniform answer, but any info would be a help. I grew up in northern NY, but at that time, wasn't particularly interested in what the cops carried. I do know that the State Police troopers carried S&W Highway Patrolman (model 28), when I lived there, and later switched to the model 19 (so I heard). I know Deputy Sherriffs carried what ever the Sherriff approved.

I also know that NYC was (and is) its own little world, and has never felt constrained to follow the rest of the state's rules.

THanks!

I don't know about the 28's up there, but I sort of remember them carrying the S&W model 520's. Similar to the 28, but fixed sights and I think they had a little more polished finish.
