Which Calibers/Handguns Are Your Favorites? - Page 4

My favorite calibers are 38, 9mm, 9x18 and 380!!

9mm has to be right up there but there would be times I would prefer something more powerful. For ranch use in the lower 48, 357 magnum is better choice overall where power and range have an advantage over firepower. In a carbine it's even better at over 1800fps with 158 grain loads and 2000+ with the 125s. The 40 and 45 have their place and I like them just fine but the 9mm is the best all around cartridge for most people due to price, recoil and size of CCW guns you can get that used to be limited to 380s. I've fired 44 mags and 454s and they are too big for general use unless you are in big bear country and having the biggest chunk of lead trumps all. I can see them being favorites in Montana or Alaska! For "duty" use I would prefer 40 over 9mm or 45 due to the balance of penetration and power. 45s are effective man stoppers, but not the do all cartridge by any means. rc

Favorite pistol cartridges: .22lr, .45 ACP, .44 Mag., .45 Colt.
So...favorite pistol calibers are .223, .429, .452.

I carry a Bulldog .44 spl. 2.5",I just picked up a Kahr CM.45 today compact.I'll be carrying it too.
