This is not a where is everything. It is however an observation. All Federal ammunition in at least the popular(scarce) calibers carried by at my local Walmart stores have just had a price increase. Also I saw an increase in a few of the Remington lines. Winchester so far has stayed the same.

I have been watching the Wal-Mart app furiously since someone mentioned several pages ago in this thread. I have yet to see any .22LR ammo at my local Wal-Marts showing up as "in stock", so I guess it's going to be next to impossible for several more weeks, at least...BOOHOO

The app no longer says "in stock" when in stock it now says "inventory stock unavailable"

Edit: The best times to see it update are in the evening(after 6pm) as thats when they typically unload the trucks. Most stores then put it out the following morning at 7am. My wife and I just picked up 6 225rd boxes of Remington Golden bullets last Saturday using the app.

I picked up some used Glock 19 mags today at Aim Surplus for $14.95 each. They are 15 round mags.

I was over at Sportsman's Warehouse in Mesa, Az. this morning and lo and behold. . .there it was. CCI Mimi Mags all over the place and no rush on to buy them. 100 round packs were $7 and some change. We were limited to 3 boxes. I will go back in a bit and pick up some more. There was quite a selection of powder and primers as well as a good selection of .223 from different manufacturers.

It is beginning to look like the worst of the hoarding is over. I will be buying up what I can . . .just in case. . .

I was at my local Cabela's which is located in Hoffman Estates which is also in crook county, IL and they had the best quantity of supplies I've seen in awhile. They had large rifle, large rifle magnum, small pistol, and small pistol magnum primers in some cases from multiple manufacturers. A good selection of Hodgdon and IMR powders for use in many different cartridges, and even a good selection of bullets from Nosler, Sierra, Hornady, Berger, and Barnes but unfortunately not the .308 125 gr Nosler ballistic tips that I need for my 300 Blackout loads. I guess I'll have to work up loads using some of the 1000 147 gr pulldown bullets I picked up for a good price off of gunbroker.

Hey Travelin' Man, small world, that's the same Cabela's I stop at every now and then when I'm passing through IL. They always seem to have a pretty good selection of ammo. I can remmber when they had 2,100 round 50 cal ammo cans of 36gr HP 22lr for $70.

That's how I gauge the ammo market. I'll now things are getting back to normal when I start seeing offers like that again. Until then, I'm stuck playing the waiting game.

Ridiculous 3-box rules

I was at Walmart and they had 250 round boxes of .45 I was interested in and they had .410 shells in 00 Buckshot - 5 rounds to a box.

I could buy 15 rounds of .410 or 750 rounds of .45 under the three-box rule - and there were dozens of each and no line or anyone else around. On another trip I bought 3 boxes of 20 in 5.56 where there were dozens of boxes on the shelves, no one waiting to buy, and I could only buy three.

The latter part, I suppose I can accept. Perhaps the only reason there were boxes there for me to buy was the three-box limit. I would have bought a lot more had they let me. But applying the same rule to a box of 5 as they apply to a box of 250 just makes no sense.

I stopped by a Walmart in Glendale AZ a couple times.

On the previous trip, they had 4 AR-15's in the rack, now down to 2. The Colt and the other no name $850 had been sold.

There was half a dozen boxes of Remington .22 lr subsonic. They had all sold in the next day or two.

There were piles of .270, hunting calibers, and shotshells. No pistol ammo.

Gander Mountain has American Eagle 223, 100 pk in stock for $59.99 with free ship-to-store (otherwise $9 shipping).

Not the best price ever but in stock:

I picked up that exact box of ammo from Academy for $34.99 last week, and they were selling Tulammo 20 rd boxes of .223 for $5.99. But GM has always been on the expensive side.

If you have an Academy store near you, they have consistently had the best prices on ammo all year and I don't believe that they raised much above pre-panic levels. They've also relaxed some of the limits on ammo; there's no limit on 7.62x39 or .308 and they had plenty in stock for both.

I just received an email alert from Buds gun shop - they're selling GGG "premium" .308 ammo (147 grain FMJBT bullets) for $19.99/box. And if you buy 32 boxes, you'll get the whole thing in a sealed cartridge box.

Not a great deal by any stretch, but .308 is not exactly overflowing in either online or brick and mortar retailers' inventories these days.

Walmart on Military Hwy in Norfolk yesterday evening had:
8x .40 UMC 100pk
20x .40 Tula Brass Max
15x .40 WWB
5x .380acp PDX1
10x .380 UMC
2x 7.62x39 WWB
30x .22lr shotshell
Random 7mm, 7mm-08, 30-06, .243, .270, plenty of .410/20ga and 12ga shot.

This Walmart and the one on Tidewater have been getting in 2 shipments per week like clockwork for months... one midweek, and one weekend (usually Sat night, so be there Sun morning) and you can have whatever you want. 9mm/.45/.223/.22lr/12ga buck are all gone by early afternoon, but it's all there up to your 3 box limit in the morning. They have .40 in stock pretty much all the time. I may have to pick up that G23 I've been eyeing.

Supplies seem to be back to somewhat of a normal level. Maybe not entirely normal, but somewhat normal.

Walmart has ammo again, especially at my local walmart. And Academy has plenty of .223.

Also, local gunstores have primers.

I can easily find these items now.

Good luck in all your shooting and reloading.

I love this hobby!

Went to Cabela's today looking for ammo and things are certainly NOT back to normal there ...No .22lr, no .22mag, no .45ACP. they did have some 9mm JHP with aluminum cases, $13.99 for 50! I passed, no experience with aluminum cases ...

However, unlike my last visit a few months ago, they had a TON of ARs, S&W, Bushmaster, etc. on racks on the floor, from $700 to $1,000 or so ... also, their handgun cases were all full; last time, they were less than half full, and mostly with not-so-popular items ...

Read an article this week about .22LR production, about 38 rounds per US gun owner per year, so it's not difficult to fathom how a shortage could develop.

Maybe things are loosening up a little, I just received two AR's and a Springfield Mil Spec I had ordered for quite some time.

Best Regards

That Cabela's has been my go-to store as far as .22LR is concerned. I have had great luck there finding the 525-round boxes of Remington ($22/box IIRC)as well as other brands on occasion (Federal, Winchester). Had to resist the urge to buy another box last time I was there as I already have over 2000 rounds stockpiled, which should last me nearly a year though some of you probably go through that in a week.

They don't seem to have a set time for stocking them, I've seen them appear an hour before closing as well as in the morning. I've had much less success at the Cabela's in Hammond IN (they're about the same distance from me, but at Hammond I can avoid tolls and fill up on cheap gas lol), they never seem to have the large boxes and the best I've done there is the 100 round boxes of CCI. However the Hammond store is very consistent as to when they stock the shelves, get there right when they open. There's usually a small line these days. Found Winchester small and large/magnum pistol primers there a few weeks ago. Limit is 2 boxes total per day though.

Drove through Wabash, Indiana today and stopped at a few gun stores.

Bass & Buck had no shortage of 1000rd cases of 7.62x39 Wolf military classic for $400, 1000rd cases of .308 Prvi Partizan for $800, and 500rd cases of 5.56, (can't remember how much). None of which were deals by any stretch of the imagination but they easily had twenty or more cases of each.

Just Hunt had cases of every kind of primers for $200. I asked the guy how he had so many and he said he ordered 200,000 primers right before December.

A store called Big R had .308 American Eagle 20rd boxes for $20.

Dunham's had 20rd boxes of .223.

None really had any pistol ammo to speak of.

I be back up there in the morning going to pick up 1lbs of 3 different makers 4 if they have it. They are still limiting people to 1lbs. each brand.

THe guy there did say that cabellas should be open on the 15th and they should have everything in stock, we will see.
