I just cast up a hundred lee conicals and lubed em up with lee alox. I was wondering if this is going to be enouth lube for my 1862 Navy Colt?

Lee Alox lube is for smokeless powder. If you talking about one of these:

You should be using a black powder lube or pre lubricated wad.

many people experience good luck with conicals in B.P. pistols.
especially in the ROA pistols.

i have had better luck with a .454 ball as noted by many others on the forum. as for lube any natural fat product mixed with beeswax is good.
many use crisco and parafen based wax. but regular lubes & oils used with smokeless powders tend to harden up , crud out if you will , with the b.p. fouling.

the key to using a conical is to keep them straight in the cylinder when loading.

Most C&B revolvers get better accuracy with round balls and moderate powder charges.

I think you will hate yourself after using the Alox

... on a good note, it is pretty easy to get off with acetone or minral spirtis.... as others have said, the best thing for BP is natural oils/lube... I use "Skidmore's Leather stuff now, since I buy it by the gallon for my business and it is cheaper than bore-butter... and doesn't get Nasty and Smelly like crisco based stuff.

I tried cones for a while and found the they were too hard for me to get loaded proper.. so I went back to RB's

Lee conicals are easy to load straight because they're tapered. I'd get rid of the alox and use beeswax or a beeswax/crisco mix.
